Ford’s philanthropic arm focuses on access to food, shelter and mobility
As Ford switched gears to make masks and ventilators to help combat the pandemic, Ford Motor Company Fund – Ford’s philanthropic arm – has focused its charitable efforts at the local effort surrounding access to food, shelter and mobility. In response to COVID-19, Ford Fund has invested $2.5 million in communities around the world.

Ford’s Resource and Engagement Centers, located in southwest Detroit and on the city’s east side, continue to deliver and distribute food in partnership with Gleaners Community Food Bank. To ensure everyone has access, Ford converted 20 employee shuttle vans into food delivery vehicles to help reach neighbors in need in addition to onsite distribution. Since March, the center has distributed than 202,000 pounds of food to families.
