In cities across U.S., Ford Fund responds to urgent community needs
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ford Fund is pitching-in across the U.S. to help people stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Sacramento, California, a Ford Fund donation helped put handwashing stations in shopping areas. They are located outside 25 Raley's grocery stores to help stop the spread of the coronavirus while people pick up necessities to take back home.
"With Ford Motor Company Fund's gracious donation, the Greater Sacramento region received hand washing stations at our area locations," said Chelsea Minor, director, Public Relations, Raley's. "We are so grateful for the collaboration to bring more sanitation and comfort during this challenging time."
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recommend washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Also avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
If you are someplace where soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
The handwashing station initiative is part of a larger Ford Fund effort to provide resources and help meet pressing needs in communities across the U.S. in light of the coronavirus pandemic. In total, more than $1.6 million has been allocated to address hunger, shelter and mobility needs related to COVID-19.
