Ford Motor Company believes that in order to develop innovative products and technologies, we need a workforce skilled in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). Ford also believes that supporting STEAM education is about creating opportunities that connect the company and our employees directly with youth and the community.

To support the company’s commitment in this area, Ford Fund a has developed a number of STEAM education programs and initiatives, including:

STEMINISTA Project: A program designed to increase the confidence and skill sets in girls grades four through eight in their pursuit of STEM fields. Ford Fund’s support of the program, run by the Michigan Science Center, enables monthly workshops and gives girls opportunities to hear form Ford role models and others who use STEM skills in their daily jobs.

Powered by Ford STEAM Academies: A national network of high school academies that provide students with an opportunity to learn through the lens of a potential career. Created out of the Ford Next Generation Learning program, these academies focus on helping prepare students for life in the real word by providing hands-on learning in STEAM fields.

Ford College Community Challenge: A Ford Fund signature program, this annual grant competition encourages college students to design and implement innovative community-building projects that address a pressing local need – often using STEAM skills.

Ford Blue Oval STEAM Scholarships: An invitation-only program that awards scholarships to college-bound students who have participated in select Ford STEAM programs and meet selection criteria.

Ford Next Generation Learning STEAM High School Community Challenge: An annual program that awards $50,000 to student-led projects that use a STEAM approach to develop solutions to critical issues in their communities.
